Naveed Mahbub is a pioneering Bangladeshi-American comedian and corporate leader who famously transitioned from a high-flying career as the CEO of IBM Bangladesh and Nokia Siemens Networks Bangladesh to become a cornerstone of the global South Asian comedy scene. An engineer by training with a B.Sc. from BUET, an M.S. from the University of Michigan, and an MBA from UC Berkeley, Mahbub holds two US patents from his time at companies like Ford and Qualcomm, yet he found his true calling on stage. He made history as the Best Male Comedian at the 2007 Original Las Vegas Comedy Festival and later became the first Bangladeshi comedian featured on Comedy Central. His extensive credits include founding Naveed’s Comedy Club—Bangladesh’s first dedicated stand-up venue—hosting the nation’s first late-night TV program, The Naveed Mahbub Show, and presiding over the morning airwaves on ABC Radio’s Good Morning Bangladesh. Beyond his screen credits, which include a role in the Adam Sandler film You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, he is a prolific writer and columnist for The Daily Star, having authored the humor collection Humorously Yours and Counting.
