About Bangla Events
We reimagine how a diaspora finds its own.
Culture is our pulse — and every gathering is a heartbeat.
Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Washington, DC, Bangla Events is the event discovery and ticketing platform built for the Bangla-speaking diaspora in North America. Our mission is to make sure no one in our community misses the night they would have remembered for years.
A Puja fest in Centreville. A business summit off Times Square. A stage drama in the DMV, a picnic outside Dallas, a fifty-year retrospective concert in Scarborough. Whatever you’re looking for — to be moved, to be fed, to be among your own people for an evening — we put it within reach. Wherever you are, we’re here to turn your Event Mode On.
We’re also the ticketing and marketing partner behind hundreds of community events — the platform organizers turn to for straightforward ticketing, real promotion, and the reach to fill every seat.
What we actually do
Three jobs, one platform.
Event Discovery
One searchable calendar for everything happening in the community — by city, ZIP code, date or category. Festivals, concerts, workshops, mixers, picnics, fundraisers. No more scrolling six Facebook pages hoping you didn’t miss something.
Discover events →Ticketing & Check-In
Secure card payments, QR-coded tickets, real-time attendee tracking and a live organizer dashboard — with our own scanning app at the door. Free and RSVP-only events cost nothing to run.
Publish an event →Promotion & Production
We don’t only list events — we help make them happen. Flyers, reels, ad campaigns, newsletter placement, sponsor decks, vendor coordination and on-site staffing, from a fifty-person workshop to a festival of a thousand.

Why “Bangla Events”?
We never wanted a clever name that needed explaining. We wanted the plainest possible promise, in two words.
Bangla — not Bangladeshi. Because what actually ties us together is a language, not a passport. It runs from Dhaka to Kolkata to Sylhet, and on to the kids raised in Queens and Toronto and Northern Virginia who know every word of a song they’ve never seen written down.
Events — because that is where a culture survives. Not in an archive. In a rented school auditorium on a Saturday night. In a park pavilion at a community picnic. In the fifteen minutes before a stage drama starts, when everyone finds everyone else.
Put the two together and you have the whole idea: if something Bangla is happening near you, it should be here. That’s the promise. That’s the name.
How it started
Everywhere, and yet nowhere.
Our founder arrived in the Washington, DC area as an international student from Bangladesh. Within a few months he noticed something that didn’t add up: there were tens of thousands of Bengalis in this metro area — professionals, shop owners, teachers, artists, students — and still, most weekends, there was nowhere obvious to go.
The events existed. They were just invisible. Buried in private group chats, scattered across a dozen Facebook pages, announced on a flyer that reached a hundred people out of a hundred thousand. Organizers were burning out chasing attendance. Families were sitting at home on a Saturday that had three things happening within twenty minutes of them.
So we built a prototype with friends and volunteers, to test one simple question: if there were a central place, would people come? Within a year, the answer was not subtle. The community had been waiting for it.
Bangla Events is now one of three platforms under Bangla Collective LLC, alongside Bangla Bulletin and Bangla Directory — a company recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration through its Freedom 250 initiative for small businesses building up their communities.

“We are becoming our community’s social network.”
We’re helping thousands of people find new things to do and meet new people — 8,000 miles from where many of us started. Every listing on this platform is somebody’s evening out, somebody’s first friend in a new city, somebody’s child seeing a stage in their own language for the first time. That’s what we’re actually in the business of.
We built this because it didn’t exist. We’re keeping it honest because our community can tell the difference.
The people behind it
A small team, spread across two continents.
A US-based leadership team working alongside a full production unit in Bangladesh — plus student ambassadors and event staff in cities across the country.
What we hold to
Four things we won’t trade for growth.
◆ Trust before reach
Every listing says plainly who is running it — whether an event is organized by Bangla Events or simply listed on it. Fees and refund terms are shown before you pay, not after. We would rather lose a sale than a reputation.
◆ Belonging, not gatekeeping
Every Bangla-speaking community is welcome here, regardless of country, region, faith or politics. The platform is in English so the generation born here can use it too — without losing a word of what it’s for.
◆ Empowerment over extraction
Published prices, no surprise fees, and free listings for verified nonprofits and student groups. We charge enough to keep the lights on and pay our people properly — and not a dollar more from organizers who are already volunteering their weekends.
◆ Show up for the small rooms
A fifty-person poetry evening gets the same care as a thousand-person concert. The small rooms are where a community is actually held together, and they are usually the ones nobody helps.
Part of something larger
One community. Three platforms.
Bangla Events is one engine in the Bangla Collective ecosystem. Stories bring people in, events bring them together, and businesses keep the value circulating inside the community.
Bangla Bulletin
Community news, success stories and practical guides for life in North America — delivered weekly to inboxes across the continent.
Bangla Events
Discovery, ticketing and production for every kind of Bangla gathering — the calendar the community actually checks.
Bangla Directory
Verified Bengali-owned businesses, professionals and jobs — so that when someone in our community needs a service, they can find one of their own first.
